CREATIVE ESSAY

CREATIVE ESSAY

A childhood nightmare”

I still remember the night that changed my life forever. I was only 12 years old. I lived in a little town called Chaneja located in the mountains, which was very quiet and most of the time there was nothing to do, nothing to be afraid of until that night. I lived in a big house outside the village. My family was considerably small for that house. We were just my sister Alice who was 10 years old, my parents Robert and Isabella, and me Peter.

That night Alice and I were watching the TV. My parents were in the kitchen preparing dinner. The telephone rang, my father took the call and he looked terrible. He was surprised by the call and my mother was very worried about it. When my father hung up the phone he told us that my grandmother had suffered an accident in her house, and she was in the hospital about to die. Although it was raining cat and dogs my parents said that they should go to the hospital to see grandma in her last moments. Alice and I did not want to stay alone in home, but my father did not want to take us to the hospital and so we had to stay at home.

We were very afraid of staying at home alone. We decided to watch a movie to feel no fear while our parents came back. When we were at the middle of the movie the lights of the house turned off with no reason. My sister screamed out loud. I was terrified; I did not know what to do. Thunders surrounded the environment and their light came through the windows. Suddenly the doorbell rang and we stared at the door at the same time. We went to the door together to see what was at that time. As we opened the door, it was everything dark and dismal. There was a middle size wood box in our feet, my sister opened the box and the light of a thunder lighted the face of a puppet. I got scared with the dummy but my sister insisted on keeping the little puppet. We went inside and my sister started to play with it, I asked her to go with me to the kitchen to look for candles to illuminate the house. My sister left the puppet into the box and we went to the kitchen. When we came back my sister looked for the puppet in the box but there was no puppet. It has just disappeared from the box, I felt a terrible feeling about it and I took her hand and ran to my parent’s room. When we were in the room, we heard some weird noises from the living room. We were speechless with the laughs we were hearing, like diabolic laughs. We went to a corner of the room; we sat down and covered ourselves with a blanket. We heard the door of the room opening, then something walking toward us. It stooped just in front of us, I felt its breathing in the blanket, and we were astonishing about it. I took down the blanket and I saw the puppet standing just in front of me, smiling, and stretching his hand to touch mine. At that precise moment I woke up and I realize that it has just been a nightmare, a really bad nightmare. When I was recovering of it, the doorbell rang. I ran to the door, I opened the door, and the only thing I could see was a wood box.

Argumentative Essay

ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY
“Obesity is killing children in Mexico”
Mexico has become the number one obesity country. On January 25th the president Felipe Calderon Hinojosa announced that Mexico occupies the first place in children obesity and adult as well. This problem has been taken as a serious problem because it is not only obesity which affects the country but the sickness and complications that it can cause. The problem has reached young people. Children are very deep in this problem. Forty percent of the children population suffers of obesity. Schools play a very important role for this problem. In schools a lot of junk food is sold, and it is not controlled by the authorities. In primary schools it is quite normal to see children drink sodas before even have breakfast, also they calm their thirst with soda all day long. There are some simple but important key points to avoid obesity among children, for example exercise in schools, and monitoring the food in schools.
Children are the future of Mexico, for that reason it is very important to instill good habits since their early age. Since obesity is a big problem in children we have to promote exercise such as: sports, hiking and things which involve physical movement in their infancy in order for them to continue with this life style all their lives. A good option to promote work out in children is in schools. Kids spend from 5 to 7 hours of their day in school, for that reasons children imitate what they learn and do in the schools. If we elicit students to do exercise and practice sports it will become a habit and the problem of obesity will decrease little by little. It is also important that schools monitor children’s health in order to know what they need to be in shape and how to overcome with this important problem. Exercise is not only the way we can improve health in children, there are more options to be in shape and not suffer of obesity.
Another important and not less important aspect we must take in consideration to avoid obesity is the food schools sell. Currently in Mexico schools there is no control of what students eat. There are too much junk food in schools and little of healthy food. This is an important aspect of obesity. Sodas, fried chips, snacks, and candies are just example of what children eat in schools. Instead of drinking sodas children must drink water. There must be water in the sodas machine and not only sodas. Instead of junk food kids have to eat healthy food. Schools must take control on this problem, and promote good habits on children’s food habits; this will help Mexico’s population to improve their life quality. When students have a healthy life they can enjoy easily their lives and their childhood.
Some people defend children with obesity. They say that they are free to eat what they want. They argue that children should enjoy their lives and not to worry about eating habits when they have to worry about being happy. It is very important that children enjoy their lives and their childhood but that is not the way they can enjoy it. Obesity becomes a real problem when children have it. It is not funny when they cannot run at all, when they cannot integrate to society because of their weight problems, and this refutes the point of view of leaving children being free of eat what they want. In order for students enjoy their childhood, they have to be healthy and not to suffer because of obesity. There are uncountable problems related with obesity, and we have to avoid them.
Obesity represents the forty percent of children population. This quantity concerns that Mexico is the country with more obese people around the world. The problem is very serious. If we do not want to be a sick and obese country we must start acting. A healthy country is a country with opportunities and a better future for our kids. It is very important to take control in this problem and act immediately to face the problem. There are several aspects we can do in order to promote good health such as: to do exercise, monitor the food children eat, and being reasonable that a healthy boy enjoys his/her life at its best.

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY

“THE DEATH TRIP”

Have you ever enjoyed so much a trip and suffered at the same time? Well, that is what happened to me in my last trip on my bike. The day of the trip seemed to be a glorious day. The soft April wind touched my cheeks with its warmness. I was pleased about the weather; it was perfect for going to the hills. The powerful rear of my bike and my friend’s bikes got me excited. All of us were riding on powerful motorcycles waiting to go to the hills. After all it was the exciting trip we had been waiting for several months, what could be wrong?

We went to the old giant mines, which are very famous but at the same time too far. When you are at the entrance you can smell the history in them. The mysterious darkness involved you and catches you to keep exploring them. We spent an entire day in that place. We were too far that the immense silence seemed to sing. The sing of the wind in all the parts of your body. There was a crystalline river nest to the mines; the water seemed to be a big mirror on the ground. The beautiful sound of the water scurrying down the river reminded me the marvelous clean rivers I visited when I was young. The water was so clean that I could not avoid drinking it. Its taste was amazing, like the most pure water I had not drunk before.

We had to spend the night in that place, next to the river. The weather was perfect, even though it was night, it was warm. We could hear the inspiriting sing of the wolves trying to reach other members of the pack. Night was fallen in thick darkness until I fell asleep. The next day when we were about to continue our hurting trip, the clutch of my bike broke down. The trip was even worse and I had to face that problem. In some parts of the read, I almost had to pick up the bike in my shoulders; I felt how my shoulders burned because all the tremendous effort I did. I had to ride a giant 4 wheel motorcycle which was a real bad idea, I had no idea how to drive it, and finally I decided to stop driving it. Fortunately we reached the top of the hill at noon although I was incredibly tired. My lungs had no more space for clean oxygen. My legs were awful burned. I just stared at the sky waiting to come back home, but the incredibly view of the beautiful landscape worth all the effort. I glanced at every simple detail above me. All the green grass surrounded me. My fascination with this view simply had no words to be described.

The time of going back finally had arrived. A big hopeful smile in my face appeared. I was much harmed for all the damage of the trip, but I was pretty delighted of thinking on returning home. The way back home was incredibly difficult; when I remembered the huge rocky path I had to pass I was astonished about it. When I arrived at home, I was joyful to be there. The unhappy part had disappeared. When I eyed my love and warm house I just felt elated.

My trip was very inadequate for humans, but since I am fine and alive I can say that everything was fine. I believe that in order to enjoy a trip, first you have to feel jolly with it not put in risk your life. With all the danger of the travel I am delighted to enjoy the simplest things in life and try to be happy with everything that surrounds me.
